Here is a
couple great snack ideas I found for you and your family from Clean Eating
Magazine!Crispy apple chipsPreheat oven to 275 degrees.Slice
3 small apples any variety, steamed, into 1/8 inch thick rounds, cutting width wise through the
core.Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper and arrange slices close
together in a single layer, not overlapping. Bake for 2 hours, until apples
are dry and crisp. Enjoy warm or cool! Chile AlmondsA
perfect balance of sweet and spicy!Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a
medium bowl, whisk 1 egg white until very foamy, about 1 minute. Stir in 2
tsp Sucanat and 2 tsp
chili powder. Add 1 cup roasted unsalted almonds and toss to coat thoroughly.Line a
small baking sheet with parchment paper. With slotted spoon, transfer
almonds to sheet, spreading evenly, discard remaining egg mixture. Bake until
fragrant and toasted, 12-14 minutes, keeping a close eye to prevent
burning.Carefully lift parchment with almonds from sheet and transfer to a
cooling rack. Let cool completely, about 30 minutes. Remove almonds form
parchment. Store in an airtight container for up to one week.

Yummy Orange Chicken Fingers
I found this recipe and thought that it would be sooooo delicious. It would be great with some other grilled veggies, or over rice or on a salad! Talk to your parents about helping you out! Be the chef tonight :) ---you can easily make the glaze for the chicken!

Keep the good thoughts
Hi Pink Girls! I had lunch with a good friend today. It was so good to catch up and see each other. Don't you love hangin' with your girlfriends...I DO. :) Anyway we were talking about all the thoughts that run thru our heads each day and my friend said something really interesting to me! She said that if we think about a thought for longer than 30 seconds, it sinks into our heart (or subconscience-I believe)
So you know what that means????
It means that every time you have a good thought that you dwell on, it resonates with in you...it becomes a part of you and you move toward that good thought. The other side of that is also true---meaning if you focus on a negative thought about you, your friends, or anything else, it becomes part of you and you move toward that negative thought too.
So, be like a beautiful flower garden--get rid of the weeds and the flowers will grow!!

Like a butterfly!

I love that saying!!
....sometimes we go through hard times and we think that it might never end. We might be having problems with friends or parents or just bummer thoughts about ourselves. Well you know what? You are that butterfly. You might not feel like that right now. You might feel like that caterpillar. But you are going through life and becoming the woman-girl that you are meant to be! You are becoming that butterfly! So get ready to spread your wings and fly!!!

National HEART month
Did you have a happy Valentine's Day? I hope so!
I think you should give yourself a post Valentine's gift and I have a great idea on the best gift you can give yourself: THE GIFT OF TAKING CARE OF YOUR HEART.
February is American Heart Month. The goal is to raise public awareness about heart disease. Did you know that it is the leading cause of death in women?
Here are some things you can start doing now at your age to take care of your heart. Make sure you pass on the information to someone you love - that helps your heart and theirs :)
Limit your intake of fat
Choose heart-healthy fats over saturated fats and trans fats
Limit your intake of sugars
Limit your intake of sodium/salt
Choose more whole grains, legumes, fresh produce and low fat dairy products
Choose lean meat and poultry
Include fish in your diet
Exercise portion control
Become physically active for 30 to 60 minutes a day

Movement Challenge

Do what you can...it's something to work towards, right?!! Don't get down on yourself if you can't do them all. You are moving and that's what counts! Did you know exercise is a great mood enhancer? That means if you are feeling kinda sad, exercise will help cheer you up. I think that's awesome!

Hi Pink Girl!
Valentine's Day is right around the corner...guess what? You're MY valentine. :) I think you are pretty special. You have amazing talents, and abilities and you have a rock-star personality. So don't ever forget it!!!!!! There is a lot of candy around valentine's day, isn't there? Here's an idea...pick your favorite piece out of all the candy you get and ask your parents if you can trade in the rest for healthy treats or maybe an ITunes download instead!

What is in your closet?
I thought I would do a Friday fun post about what is in your closet! I don't know about you but today I just want to do a little yoga. I am low energy and so are my clients today...maybe because it is snowing in Nebraska??? so.... I thought I would do a fun inside activity.

Here's what's in my closet right now. I recognize that it's too much stuff, and I'm working on whittling it down to be more functional and getting rid of those clothes and pictures that I don't need anymore. I notice I have a lot of black clothes, a lot of workout clothes and alot of stuff I do not wear but it is very organized.

Skipping meals often results in overloading when you do eat. Our goal is to maintain a healthy life and have great energy. Try and make the best food choices you can during your day AND exercise regularly.

Try this smoothie!
Mmm, I wanna make this! Banana Oatmeal Smoothie. 2 whole bananas (best with brown flecks on peel), 2 cups ice, 1/3 cup yogurt (preferably Greek yogurt flavored with honey), 1/2 cup cooked oatmeal, 1/3 cup almonds. 380 calories. Great for a breakfast or lunch! Found this on Pintrest.com and thought I would share! Pintrest is my new passion past time

Great Snack Foods
If you are anything like my Pink Girl, I bet you are HUNGRY when you get home from school! When you have a snack after school, what do you choose? Sometimes my Pink Girl has greek yogurt with granola or an apple with almond butter. She really likes fruit smoothies! A Pink Girl ALWAYS makes awesome choices for after school snacks...what's your favorite snack? Here are a couple more ideas:
How about cherry tomatoes with basil and fresh mozzerella cheese-everything tastes better on a stick, right?!?!!
I LOVE the beautiful colors on a plate....they are so pretty and fun to eat color by color :)

Today my post is on "favorite places"... Where do you go when you need to clear your head? Do you have a place that you can go to improve yourself? A special place where you can figure things out? It is important to have this place for yourself. It can be your bedroom. It can be outside in the grass. It can be in a tent you have built in your living room. Find a special place today where you feel safe and happy. Find and make your own mini retreat. Create your favorite place. I even have pictures of what I would like my favorite place to look like. I think it means asking yourself "What do you love to do?" What makes you excited to get out of bed in the morning and keep you up late at night? Do you find yourself painting? Designing clothes? Doing make up and hair? Doing yoga or cooking? Finding your bliss means doing whatever it is in this moment that truly makes you happy. Water in the Winter
Sometimes in the winter, it's harder to drink water, isn't it. It's not like summer when you come in from playing outside and you're hot and a tall glass of ice cold water sounds good! Well, here I am writing to you this morning and I decided to have a hot cup of water with some lemon squeezed into it. You can even add a little bit of honey to your water, if the lemon is too sour for you. Have your grocery-shopping parent look for meyer lemons. They are a special kind of lemon that aren't as sour and have a sweeter, smoother flavor! That's what I have in my cup of hot water today--it's yum-o! This is an easy way to drink your water and stay warm--all at the same time! :)

How are the Visual Goals going?
How is the kickoff to your new year? Did you set some goals and work on your visual journal?Here are some example of my goals and pictures on my visual board. I can't wait to see yours!

Goal 3. Eat healthy. I put a healthy Tupperware container in my refrigerator so that when I opened the refrigerator the healthy stuff was ready and caught my eye. It has made me eat more fruits and vegetables. I put Natural peanut butter, Greek yogurt, blueberries, carrots, grapes, and mozzarella cheese sticks in mine.

New Year! New You!
Happy New Year! It is the time of year to make changes and goals. Have you made your New Year Resolution yet? First of all we have to get a clear picture on what we want. Get out a new journal or start a new go-to-guide and decorate a page in words and pictures of what your goals look like. Maybe you want to start Yoga or take Karate lessons. Maybe start a new hobby or meet a new friend. Whatever it is you want you first need to get a clear picture of exactly in detail what you are wanting. A fun way to visualize what you like is to set up a picture board on www.pinterest.com. It Is fun to see pictures of what you would like to do and who you would like to become. Remember - what you think about comes about.
